One expertise, evolving audiences

I began my career helping children learn mathematics. That experience taught me how people learn, where learning breaks down, and how thoughtful instruction changes performance. As my career progressed, I expanded from teaching students to designing learning systems that support teachers, school leaders, and now employees across corporate environments. Regardless of the audience, my work has always focused on one goal: helping people perform with confidence.

Effective Communication in the Emergency Room

Grace Community Care Trauma Unit · Nurses & hospital staff · Simulated client project, AID Academy certification

Challenge

Patient satisfaction surveys and supervisor observations showed 47% of hospital staff did not follow communication etiquette, and relevant patient information was not logged from shift to shift — creating duplicated work and inconsistent care.

My role

Instructional designer and developer — needs analysis from survey and observation data through design, development, and performance support.

Process

Chose scenario-based learning built on real communication breakdowns, with interactive knowledge checks reinforcing handoff procedures — paired with an SBAR job aid for point-of-need use during shift changes.

Result

A blended solution: Rise 360 course + SBAR performance support designed for on-the-job application, not just course completion.

Case study · Full ADDIE design lifecycle

Consumer Education Learning Experience

Gourmet Kitchen · Subscription-service customers · Simulated client project, AID Academy certification

Challenge

Subscribers flooded the company with the same product questions; customers didn't understand how ingredient variations changed their results, leading to disappointment and repeat inquiries.

My role

End-to-end instructional designer: needs analysis, content mapping, design documentation, storyboarding, scriptwriting, and Storyline development.

Process

Full ADDIE artifact trail — audience analysis, content map, design document, and storyboard, then a Storyline course using tab interactions, branching, layered triggers, and audio-synced animation, plus a quick-reference guide for just-in-time support.

Result

A complete design system, not just a course — every deliverable from analysis to performance support shows how I think before I build.

Guided Math: Designing Teacher Professional Learning at Scale

Humble ISD · Elementary teachers, coaches & campus leaders

Challenge

Teachers across the district needed consistent support implementing research-based guided math instruction — with differentiation, data use, and small-group practice varying widely from campus to campus.

My role

Led the full instructional design lifecycle: needs analysis, curriculum design, facilitation, implementation, and Kirkpatrick Level 4 evaluation.

Process

Designed hybrid professional learning plus a self-guided Guided Math Companion toolkit — reflection checklists, planning templates, anecdotal-records tools, and goal-setting protocols teachers could use independently between coaching cycles.

Result

Contributed to a campus improving from a D to an A accountability rating, with resources adopted across multiple campuses — work recognized with the district's "Light the Torch" award from Teaching & Learning Directors.

Case study · Change enablement & consulting

Bluebonnet Curriculum: Mid-Year Implementation

Every Child Learning LLC · District leaders & 1,200+ educators

Challenge

District leaders had to roll out the Texas Bluebonnet Learning curriculum mid-year — with no runway, anxious educators, and no internal structure to support the change.

My role

Learning and development consultant — performance consulting, rollout co-design, communication strategy, and educator support systems.

Process

Conducted needs assessments and co-designed rollout and communication plans. A key design decision: quadrant-based planning guides that let teachers keep their instructional autonomy while layering in the new curriculum gradually — aligning existing practice to Bluebonnet instead of replacing it overnight. Trained instructional leaders as implementation champions and monitored progress through coaching cycles and readiness assessments.

Result

Campus leaders could facilitate professional learning independently — 36+ facilitator guides, toolkits, and coaching protocols reduced reliance on external support and sustained implementation.

Facilitation & consulting

Beyond the build

Speaking & facilitation

80+ live learning experiences

I design and deliver in-person and virtual professional learning — from leadership development workshops to statewide reviewer onboarding, where I helped prepare 300+ reviewers through standardized virtual training and coached 4–10 concurrent teams to consistent quality.

Facilitation isn't separate from design for me: what I learn in the room feeds directly back into better learning systems.

Every Child Learning LLC

Founder & L&D consultant

Through my consulting practice I've partnered with districts on needs assessments, curriculum implementation, and capacity building — designing 80+ learning experiences for 1,200+ educators, coaches, and school leaders.
